Treading Lightly, Leaving Enriched

September 8, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us on Thursday 8th September for our ‘Treading Lightly, Leaving Enriched’ event, held at St. Andrew’s Anglican College Aquatic Centre. This event will focus in on those in our community who are ‘treading lightly’ by developing products and processes which are kinder and more sustainable for our environment. You will also have the opportunity to hear more about the Sunshine Coast biosphere and what you can do to help protect the environment within which we live. With a panel of inspiring guest speakers we are sure you will walk away enriched with knowledge and ready to take action.

Joining us at our ‘Treading Lightly, Leaving Enriched’ event will be Ami Bateman, Co-Founder of Pleasant State, Jason Grant, Developer, Founder and Director of Barns Lane Farm and Kathryn Scott, Strategic Project Officer (Biosphere) at Sunshine Coast Council.

As Co-Founder of Pleasant State, Ami Bateman loves problem solving. In 2020 she set out with her business partner and a crowdfunding campaign to revolutionise the way people clean their homes, eradicating the need for toxic chemicals and unsustainable packaging and products. With an extraordinary amount of support from the community Pleasant State have developed a range of waste-free, non-toxic products that keep peoples’ homes AND families healthy.

Dedicated to creating developments that add community value, Jason Grant and his co-founders designed Barnes Lane Farm to be an essential tourist attraction that showcases the Sunshine Coast’s brilliance through food, community and fun. With a keen focus on local producers, sustainability and the Sunshine Coast region, Barnes Lane Farm is a true showcase of Jason’s passions. The Barnes Lane team have vision of making their venue one of the best sustainable and eco-friendly tourism destinations.

Following a successful nomination, endorsed by Sunshine Coast Council, in 2019 the Sunshine Coast was officially recognised by UNESCO as an international site of excellence, otherwise referred to as a biosphere. A biosphere is a place where people living sustainably and responsible development sit alongside active conservation. The official recognition reflects the Sunshine Coast’s commitment to remaining future-facing. As the Strategic Project Officer (Biosphere) at Sunshine Coast Council, Kathryn Scott works tirelessly to preserve and educate people regarding the Biosphere.

Purchase your ticket now and join us at our ‘Treading Lightly, Leaving Enriched’ event where you will have the opportunity to not only hear from but also ask questions of our incredible panel of speakers
